Udo Herlitze, Sales Representative – 25 years with LANCO

This September, Udo Herlitze, a dedicated Sales Representative at LANCO Dr. Lange GmbH & Co. KG, celebrated an impressive milestone – 25 years with the company! We sat down with Udo to discuss his journey, experiences, and the insights he has gained over the years. 

Udo, congratulations on your 25th LANCOversary! Can you tell us a bit about how your journey with LANCO began? 

Udo: Thank you! It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years. My journey began after I served 12 years in the army. When I decided to transition to a civilian role, I was looking for a more stable workplace, and I also decided it was about time that I built a family. I found out about LANCO through a newspaper, and I applied for the job.  

Over the years, what has kept you motivated and excited about your work at LANCO? 

Udo: The variation in my work has been incredibly rewarding. I get to interact with a wide range of customers from various sectors, each with their own unique needs and demands. Whether I’m working with firefighters, military units, local associations, or HORECA organizations, every day brings something new. I enjoy the entire process, from understanding their requirements to requesting feedback after the sale to ensure they’re satisfied with our products. Additionally, I have enjoyed and still enjoy seeing the company grow from year to year and, of course, being part of this growth. 

You’re known for always showcasing LANCO’s products during our exhibitions in Germany. How do these events impact your work? 

Udo: I enjoy being part of the exhibitions here in Germany! They provide an excellent opportunity to connect with our potential customers face-to-face and understand their needs better. I like to connect with potential customers who visit us during exhibitions, as it’s a chance to discuss their experiences and any specific requirements they might have. These interactions are invaluable for building relationships and gathering feedback, which helps us improve our offerings.

How do you approach customer feedback, and why is it important to you? 

Udo: Customer feedback is essential to me because it helps us improve and adapt our products to meet evolving needs. After every sale, I make it a point to follow up with customers to hear their thoughts. This not only shows them that we care about their experience, but it also helps us identify areas where we can improve our services and offerings. 

Can you share a memorable experience or project you’ve worked on during your time at LANCO? 

Udo: I do not have a one-time experience that I find exceptional. For me, it is fulfilling to see our tents making a difference in all these various fields that our solutions can fit in. It’s amazing to see the impact our solutions have on our customers and their communities worldwide. 

After 25 years, what advice would you give to someone starting their career at LANCO? 

Udo: My advice would be to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. The diversity of our customer base means you’ll encounter different challenges and experiences, which is invaluable. Building strong relationships and being open to feedback will go a long way in your career. Lastly, enjoy the journey and celebrate your milestones along the way!
